Oscar Granieri, F. Blanco and Person got together in 1985 to form a rock band, while they attended their last year of high school. They initially called themselves “Los Ratones”. Coming from the shores of Mar del Plata and sharing the same musical influences (Beatles, Kinks, Hollies, among many others) they began to play in their hometown with a set of some own songs and a few covers of their favorite 50’s and 60’s bands. A couple of years later Mario Barassi joins the band, and with him the possibility to sing four-voice harmonies. After winning contests, festival appearances, and clubs throughout the city and its surroundings, they became Mar del Plata’s representative rock band, renaming themselves as “Super Ratones”. Their own contribution as songwriters along with the Beach Boys’ initial influence helped to develop the band’s own style and identity over this early period.
